    Thursday evening at 5:30pm

The Grand Oak Villa Oakville, Connecticut

Program Host Tom Chute of WATR AM & FM Radio

Our annual banquet for 2021, although delayed by the health risks brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, promises as always to be an evening of renewed friendship, fine dining, and a replenished commitment of service to people in our community who are most in need. Please join us.

The evening program features the presentation of the Father Cascia Service Award for 2021 to the Thomaston Savings Bank and a reprise of the presentations to the 2020 awardees since a public recognition was not possible last year. Our evening program will include a special recognition of Monsignor Joseph Donnelly for his many years of faithful service and leadership of the Mission. We will pause also for a Moment of Remembrance for those who were kind enough to remember the Mission in their estate plans.

    Guest Reservation: $55.00

The Father Cascia Service Award The Father Cascia Service Award was created to honor individuals and organizations that have, in their own way, exemplified the spirit of service and the dedication of Father Philip Cascia who founded the Mission in 1978 and who served as our board chairman and guide throughout the early years of our operation. The Mission gratefully presents the honorees for 2021 and 2020. Click here to see past award winners.

    Thomaston Savings Bank

The bank is consistently among the sponsors for our events. TSB personnel generously offer their time as volunteers in our facilities on a regular basis. A recent bank initiative conducted earlier this year, “The Community Kitchen Project,” is indicative of their continuing and generous response to the needs of our community. In this program which seeks to alleviate somewhat the hardships brought on by the pandemic, the bank purchases meals from area restaurants who prepare and deliver the food to several human service organizations including our Homeless Shelter. The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation, through an array of grants made to nonprofit organizations each year, responds generously to the human activity and material needs experienced by area residents.

    Saint Mary’s Hospital

Saint Mary’s Hospital is a steady and generous sponsor of St. Vincent DePaul Mission’s awareness and fund-raising events. The hospital encourages employee collections of food products and basic personal items for donation to SVDP. Members of the hospital staff have served the Mission in a volunteer capacity. Trinity Health consistently sponsors events held by community non-profit organizations throughout our region, particularly those associated with the Archdiocese of Hartford.

    The Sandwich Project

The Sandwich Project began in 1986 at Blessed Sacrament Church and has operated continuously ever since. Sandwiches are made by four teams on alternate weeks, coordinated by team captains, and delivered to the Homeless Shelter. Dozens of volunteers have participated during its 30-plus year history. Currently, the project is staffed by 36 volunteers coming primarily from Blessed Sacrament Church and from All Saints - Todos los Santos Parish (Shrine of St. Anne and Church of Our Lady of Lourdes).

    Stephen Ball

Stephen Ball is the son of Forest Ball, one of the “founding fathers” of St. Vincent DePaul Mission. Stephen’s efforts on behalf of the Mission have reflected his father’s dedication. Recently, we have completed second-floor renovations and the installation of a new heating and cooling system within our Homeless Shelter. These renovations have been of enormous benefit to the individuals and families we serve. However, before any renovations could be realized, these projects required considerable preparation, documentation and coordinated planning. Mr. Ball’s experience in this field and his ongoing advice and assistance to the organization before and during these renovations, as well as throughout the course of our Affordable Housing renovations, have proven invaluable and have helped to ensure their ultimate success.
