Annual Banquet

Annual Banquet and Father Cascia Service Awards

The Annual Banquet of St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury scheduled for September 10th, 2020 is cancelled given the current risks to public health caused by the ongoing corona virus pandemic.

Organizations and individuals who have purchased banquet reservations may request a refund. In lieu of a refund however, we ask that these purchases be considered a donation in support of our services to the poor who have experienced severe health and economic disruption during this pandemic.

Please join your friends and neighbors at our annual banquet as we renew our dedication to serve people in our community experiencing poverty, homelessness, hunger and mental health challenges. We come together for an evening of fine dining and friendship enriched by the spirit of our fellowship, commitment, and gratitude.

The evening program features the presentation of the Father Cascia Service Awards and a special recognition of Monsignor Joseph Donnelly for his many years of faithful service and leadership of the Mission.

We will also pause for a Moment of Remembrance for those who were kind enough to remember the Mission in their estate plans.

    Guest Reservation: $55.00

2020 Father Cascia Service Award Recipients

The Father Cascia Service Award was created to honor individuals and organizations that have, in their own way, exemplified the spirit of service and the dedication of Father Philip Cascia who founded the Mission in 1978 and who served as our board chairman and guide throughout the early years of our operation. The Mission gratefully presents the honorees for 2020.

    Saint Mary’s Hospital

Saint Mary’s Hospital is a steady and generous sponsor of St. Vincent DePaul Mission’s awareness and fund-raising events. The hospital encourages employee collections of food products and basic personal items for donation to SVDP. Members of the hospital staff have served the Mission in a volunteer capacity. Trinity Health consistently sponsors events held by community non-profit organizations throughout our region, particularly those associated with the Archdiocese of Hartford.

    The Sandwich Project

The Sandwich Project began in 1986 at Blessed Sacrament Church and has operated continuously ever since. Sandwiches are made by four teams on       alternate weeks, coordinated by team captains, and delivered to the Homeless Shelter. Dozens of volunteers have participated during its 30-plus year   history. Currently, the project is staffed by 36 volunteers coming primarily from Blessed Sacrament Church and from All Saints - Todos los Santos Parish   (Shrine of St. Anne and Church of Our Lady of Lourdes).

    Stephen Ball

Stephen Ball is the son of Forest Ball, one of the “founding fathers” of St. Vincent DePaul Mission. Stephen’s efforts on behalf of the Mission have reflected his father’s dedication. Recently, we have completed second-floor renovations and the installation of a new heating and cooling system within our Homeless Shelter. These renovations have been of enormous benefit to the individuals and families we serve. However, before any renovations could be realized, these projects required considerable preparation, documentation and coordinated planning. Mr. Ball’s experience in this field and his ongoing advice and assistance to the organization before and during these renovations, as well as throughout the course of our Affordable Housing renovations, have proven invaluable and have helped to ensure their ultimate success.
