    Gary Beaulieu

Gary Beaulieu is the Executive Director of the St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury, Inc. who oversees the work of an amazing group of people who all share in a common endeavor--to do what they can to help those most in need in our community.

As an avid wood worker, Gary recognizes that the outcome of any build is often dependent on the tools at hand and the care in which one puts things together. Similarly, Gary believes that the people we serve must have the aid, resources and tools they require to build a brighter future, and he is determined to develop these capacities. With this in mind, he leads in the support of services that are provided with compassion, dignity, and respect, while fostering the tools necessary for growth, motivation, and self efficacy.

Keenly aware that he is creating a Community of Service, he considers it essential for everyone to recognize the vital interconnectivity they have with one another: a reciprocally beneficial connection which extends far beyond apparent family to our unknown brothers and sisters experiencing illness, poverty, and homelessness, and who need our help and compassion. Often interpreting the adage, “There, but for the grace of God, go I,” he wishes us to recognize the potential blessings and misfortunes inherent in our common human condition to encourage reflection and support of those less fortunate. In this same spirit, he acts to promote and foster the sacred expression of our humanity and the development of an authentic community that cares for and about one another; a community that is altogether strengthened by benefiting the welfare of all.

Prior to his appointment as Executive Director in December of 2017, Gary was the Director of Mental Health Services for the organization, and a Program Director at a Substance Abuse Agency. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut, and a Master’s degree in Mental Health and Clinical Services from Southern Connecticut State University. Gary is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC), and Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS).

He is the author of The Little Words that Grew, and several professional articles in psychology. Working within the human service field for over thirty years, he is an experienced clinician and trainer. He was a member and Chairman of the Clinical Supervision Committee for the Connecticut Certification Board, Inc., Co-chair of the Waterbury Sub-Continuum of Care, and steering member of the Connecticut Balance of State Continuum of Care designed to prevent and end homelessness in Connecticut by rapidly connecting those in need to appropriate, low-barrier housing and services to support stability. He was a member of the Mayor’s Task Force on Substance Abuse, and is a recipient of the Spirit of Excellence Award for his work on the Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness.

He lives in Middlebury, CT where he shares his life’s adventure with his beautiful wife, Karrie, his family and friends, and his loving dog, Oliver. He is passionate about art and the nature of its collective expression, and is longing to improve at his most favorite hobbies: digital painting, woodworking and tennis.

“We all live one life, and we are fortunate to share this world with others. As we will all someday be remembered for the unique expression of our benefits and blessings, we must not forget to faithfully share our gifts while living in this amazing miracle.”
